Richard Underhill’s wonderfully melodic alto sax playing, great writing and arranging skills and in-from-the-outside soloing make him one of Canada’s most distinctive jazz performers. The founding member of Toronto Shuffle Demons, Richard won a 2003 Juno Award for his jazz debut ‘Tales from the Blue Lounge’ and was nominated for the Prix du Jazz at the Montreal Jazz Festival. His latest album ‘Live at Lula’ features Lincoln Center Jazz and Wynton Marsalis alumni trombonist Ron Westray. His 3rd album ‘Kensington Suite’ garnered significant critical acclaim and was nominated for a 2008 Juno Award and his 2nd album ‘Moment in Time’ was also nominated for a Juno Award in 2007. A truly original jazz composer and arranger, Richard’s exciting original music captivates audiences with singable melodies, outstanding musicianship and engaging performances. Richard was honoured to perform at Roy Thomson Hall for the state funeral of his old friend, the honourable Jack Layton.Richard has performed and recorded with Dr. John, Taj Mahal, Molly Johnson, Colin James, Han Bennink, Kevin Breit, Julius Hemphil, Colin Linden, Hawksley Workman, Tom Cochrane, Holly Cole, Julie Michaels, Paul Cram, Terry Clarke, Mendelson Joe, Amos Garrett, Bobby Wiseman, Soul Rebels, the Mighty PoPo, the Hemispheres Orchestra, Daniel Janke, Tom Walsh, Hilario Duran and NOMA to name a few. He leads several diverse groups including his jazz quintet, the Shuffle Demons, the Kensington Horns Community Band, the Rider Raiders and the improvising electronic groove ensemble Astrogroove.

I am an Oboe/Oboe D/Amore/English Horn player first, but also double on Clarinets, Saxophones, flutes, and Recorders. I have in the past been a tenured player with the Windsor Symphony, have played several seasons with the Stratford Festival, and many major musicals in Toronto. I have done some orchestra contracting as well over the past 30 years, and have been the Music Director and Conductor of the Barrie concert Band.

Canadian trumpeter Norman Engel enjoys a richly diversified career, performing on modern and historical trumpets. He is one of a new generation of players who feels at home in all genres of music. Mr. Engel performs extensively as soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player.He has had the pleasure of working with the Toronto Symphony; Canadian Opera Company; Santa Fe Opera; National Ballet of Canada; Esprit Orchestra; Hamilton Philharmonic; Windsor Symphony; Symphony Nova Scotia; Hannaford Street Silver Band and the Stratford Festival among many others.Norman has worked for many years in Toronto’s theatre community, having performed thousands of shows in the orchestras of Phantom of the Opera; Miss Saigon; Beauty and the Beast; Ragtime; Cinderella; West Side Story; Nicholas Nickleby; Lord of the Rings; The Sound of Music; South Pacific; Wizard of Oz; Les Miserables; A Gentleman’s Guide To Love And Murder; Alice Through The Looking Glass; The King And I and Anne of Green Gables.Mr. Engel’s career as one of North America’s leading performers on natural trumpet has taken him across Europe, to Asia, New Zealand, and throughout most of Canada and the U.S. He has performed with Canada’s renowned Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra since 1993. MICHAEL OCCHIPINTI is a versatile sound sculpting guitarist, composer and arranger who has spent decades freely moving between genres such as jazz, chamber music, world music, rhythm and blues, funk, and experimental music. A nine-time JUNO Award nominee celebrated nationally for his fearlessness in imagining and realizing new projects, Michael leads severalacclaimed groups including The Sicilian Jazz Project, Shine On: The Universe of John Lennon, In Orbit (featuring Jeff Coffin and Felix Pastorius), and the JUNO winning 16-piece group NOJO. Michael and singer/pianist Elizabeth Shepherd will be releasing a new songbook album under the name ESMO in June of 2021, and the two are now writing a new album of electronic music.The range of Michael’s musical interests is best illustrated in the many celebrated individuals and groups Michael has performed with or written music for, including Don Byron, Sam Rivers, The Gryphon Trio, Bruce Cockburn, Ari Hoenig, Pilar, The Cecilia String Quartet, DVSN, Joe Lovano, Quartetto Gelato,The Toronto Symphony, Laila Biali, L’Orchestre national de jazz de Montréal , The Art of Time Ensemble, Avataar, Ray Anderson, Dave Douglas, The 21C Festival of Contemporary Music, and Kenny Wheeler.
